Taking place at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy on the 25th of May, the 1977 European Cup final was contested between two heavyweights of the game, Liverpool & Mönchengladbach of Germany. Goals from club legends Terry McDermott & Tommy Smith kept the Reds in control of the tie until a late penalty from right back Phil Neal sealed the victory & with it, an historic first European Cup.
