Liverpool 1984 European Champions Football Team Print

Taking place at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome, Italy on the 30th of May, the 1984 European Cup final was contested between Liverpool, playing in their fourth final in eight years & Roma, who were making their debut. Due to home ground advantage it was the Italians who were considered favourites but fell to an early Phil Neal goal after only 13 minutes on the clock. Roberto Pruzzo restored parity just before halftime & the 1-1 scoreline carried through until the end of extra time. After a tense penalty shootout in which Liverpool missed their first attempt, Roma crumbled under the pressure to hand the Reds another memorable European Cup win.
